Proposal for Improving
Healthcare Services
(Provincial Assembly Proceedings, 05/03/1957, 10:55 PM - 11:05 PM)
Major Ghani, MPA, stated
in the Provincial Assembly:
*"Honourable
Speaker, it is unfortunate that the Health Minister has failed to reflect
genuine concern for the public's wellbeing within the budget. I regret that I
cannot commend him for this. If he were in the opposition today and had
personally observed the suffering and poor health conditions in rural areas,
especially the remote regions, perhaps he would have shown greater empathy in
his policies.
When leaders ascend to
higher positions, they often forget the struggles of the common people. Their
focus on alleviating the people’s suffering diminishes significantly.
I would like to
particularly highlight the issue of improper medical practices. In many places,
treatments for serious conditions like tuberculosis, cholera, and typhoid are
being conducted by quacks and untrained practitioners. Such incompetence
deprives people of proper medical care.
I urge the honourable
Minister to ensure the availability of qualified doctors for medical treatment.
If necessary, arrangements should be made to bring in competent doctors from
abroad on special contracts."*
Major Ghani’s remarks
emphasized the urgent need for reform in the healthcare system, particularly in
rural areas, to ensure quality medical care for all.
