The First
International Assembly of Muslim
Youth
Karachi
--------------------------------------------
Major A. Ghani, MLA (East Bengal, Leader of the Contingent of
East Bengal Delegates to the IAMY issued the following statement to the press:
-
As this auspicious moment, when the flowers of the Muslim
world have assembled here to deliberation on a common and constructive
programme to ameliorate the conditions of the Muslim world, I take just pride
in according to them a befitting wel-come.
I have watched the proceedings with great care, and I have
tried to measure the depth of the sincerity with which the young hearts took up
the issue confronting all. I am convinced that Islamic renaissance is in sight.
It is an admitted fact that Islam, as a dynamic force, played
the greatest rule in history and it is our retrograde steps which have made us
what we are to-day. I am further convinced that Muslims are not deficient even
to-day in those great qualities.
It is high time that we collectively mobilise our resource
and unite our common endeavours for that common glory and object for pride that
was once Islam.
Let us take this vow at this momentous hour that no amount of
alien tactics and impact of confusing ideologies can deviate us from the spirit
of Islam. It is my earnest hope that my brother delegates shall carry within
them not only the greatest messages of Islam but also the determination to
revive the lost glory of Islam by a common and harmonious policy in all spheres
of activities so that the voice of Islam resounds again in its pristine glory.
